Inspiration is Everywhere

I used to tell my students that the best camera to have is the one that is with you. It really doesn't matter if you have the best lens or the best model with all the bells and whistles; a photographer really needs to be able to be in the moment, to see the lighting and the scenes that are in front of him or her, in order to be able to take beautiful or memorable photographs. "Be in the right moment at the right time" kind of thing.
I have about 15,000 photos on my iPhone. Ridiculous in some ways. I really am technically savvy enough to find storage for the photos, for the moments I record in my daily life. But, I like to keep them on my phone because throughout the day I enjoy, not only taking photos, but viewing and editing the photos I have taken. Some days I scroll back to photos from 3 years ago and find something in one of the photos that inspires me to do something creative.
When I have limited time and space to create something with paint or fabric, photography is a creative outlet for me because I can fit it in to my busy (mom-with-two-small-kids-who-always-need-something) lifestyle. I can record textures and colors and moments that are inspirational to me so that I have something to go back to when I have more time.
I will go back to these in some way when I get back in the studio next week... I am just recording and sharing my inspiration as I go along!
