You can’t always get what you want...

...but you find sometimes you get what you need. Good ole Mick Jagger.  It’s amazing how things work out. Since I’ve been home with the kids and having 2 days a week (if that) to work on art and building an art business, I have always had work. I have the work that I have the time for. It really is amazing - the universe is giving me what I can handle right now. I haven’t been so swamped that I stress out, which is nice because I am building this new life on my enjoyment of making art. If I had so much work that I was stressed out about deadlines, etc., than I think I would cease to find it enjoyable. If I had no work at all I think it would hinder my confidence a bit.  And without a little morsel of affirmation would I have the motivation to keep on this path?   Who knows (not sure I care) if that’s a good thing or bad for an artist to have his/her confidence affected by people “liking” their work. But it really feels good to have people interested in the work that I’m interested in doing.

With all of this said, I have basically been doing commission work and I’m now at the point where I’d would like to paint the imagery that I’m interested in. What the hell does that look like anyway?? I haven’t painted for me in FOREVER!! Where do I start? What do I want to create? Oh god - now I see what commission work is good for!!! 😂. Anxiety from staring at a blank slate can be so immobilizing. Perhaps if I keep this motto in my head from Mick’s song... I just need to keep my eyes open and on the lookout for what it is I need. I’ll get it, I know I will!
